Description

So I went back to "my old technique" again for this one.
I'm actually kind of proud of myself for keeping up with the uploads for now. There was a time when I felt really bad and guilty for not doing anything artsy, and every time that I actually did do something it was more because I felt like I "should be" doing it, and not because I actually wanted to. I'VE CHANGED!
I've been doing a lot of painting lately (which you might have noticed if you're a watcher), and I've found that listening to podcasts or interviews on youtube while painting really helps me focus and motivates me to be creative more often..
So yeah.. :wormnomnom: <- I can't express enough how much I love that little green dude.

..and I actually remembered to put my signature on this one (yay. good for me). bye for now

Wow, you are getting pretty close to realistic with this painting.  If I were to critique this I would suggest watching your edges (in real life some edges are defined and others kind of muted unto the background)- this doesn't have that, which makes it look like a paper cutout in some areas.  I'm not a fan of the full face-on view with the light to the back of the viewer so I'd also suggest you try working in values only with some different lighting- and, since this looks like it is a fairly accurate rendition of a photo ref, maybe drawing some faces that are in real life rather than a photo?  Most photos have poor lighting for drawing and painting from.

I'm not trying to be critical in any way, so feel free to ignore any or all of the above if it doesn't fit in with what you like doing- especially since my own taste is coming through.  I'm not a big fan of drawing from photos (even though I do it when I have nothing else to draw from) and I never like drawing a face in full face on view (being a fan of bone structure ) and I like shadows (the better to delineate the lovely BONE structures!!). XD I just try to say something more interesting than "oh, yeah, hi, that's kind of cool, bye now". :D

Oh, and I totally know what you mean about the "feeling guilty" thing.  It doesn't work to only ever motivate yourself to draw by feeling bad about NOT drawing.  I'm breaking the cycle of procrastination and guilt- I want to draw, but to reach my goals, not because I'm desperately trying to assuage that art guilt. :)
